JOINING INFORMATION

Fees Code of Conduct Constitution Joining Form

Once you have read the webpages which tell you About Us, Our History and The Colours, you will need information about joining the Club. You are welcome to contact any of the Leadership (see leadership webpage) personally or just simply read the info and fill out the joining form. One of the Leadership will contact you asap and invite you to join them at an appropriate time to chat about your application.

Reading the club constitution is sometimes not the easiest of tasks but it almost always answers the many questions about how the Club operates and what focus areas are emphasized. This will be dealt with indepth during your induction. The Constitution lays down the "Articles of Association" and has been agreed to by the leadership. It helps to know how your club does its business. This is not merely a social club where we Jol and ride bikes. Yes! this is one of the central purposes of the club but it is also a legal entity and well respected in the wider biking community. In essence, a club with integrity.

On acceptance of your membership application and after your initial meeting with the Leadership, your induction commences with a complete and formal presentation about the Club and how it operates. The following information supplements the constitution and also summarises the important aspects about joining Jo'Burg Eagles MCC:

* Membership is open, but not limited to, anyone who owns a motorcycle with an engine cylinder capacity of 350cm3 or higher. Motorcycle ownership is preferred although not essential.

* Motorcycle owners are to be appropriately licensed and registered. Insurance is optional in South Africa, however you are seriously encouraged to ensure that you and your machine are insured.

* Membership of other clubs is not permitted. Your loyalty cannot be split. You must decide on where your priorities are. There is however, no restriction on membership of a brand name or international organisation. In any case, the Club Colours take precedence.

* All new members on acceptance of the application to join the Club become Prospect Members. This implies a period of "riding with the club" or probation, to get to know the members, getting a feeling for how things work and affording the Leadership an opportunity to gauge your dedication. It also gives you an opportunity to get to know the "brotherhood" of bikers.

* The Jo'Burg Eagles Code of Conduct is a very special and unique set of values we as Club Members strive for. It is expected of Prospect Members to make a thorough study of these values and strive to live them out in true Jo'Burg Eagles style. By doing this you will always "Make us Proud".

* All members are to wear a pocket size Jo'Burg Eagles Badge on the left front pocket position of a black leather waistcoat (denim waist coats are not permitted). The small name scroll is worn just under the Jo'Burg Eagles badge.

* The one big question always asked is, How quickly do I get my colours? Simply, there is no time limit. Just be yourself, attend as many events with the club as possible, prove your loyalty to the Club, earn the respect of your "Club Family" and dedicate yourself to the Code.

* Bestowing of the Rockers is not indicative of an immanent bestowing of colours. It just means that the Leadership have monitored your general conduct and affinity with the other members and feel you are ready to represent the Club's name in the wider biking community. Colours will be bestowed when you least expect it. Your patience is indicative of your attitude. The"ritual" of bestowing Rockers and Colours on a Prospect deserves the highest honour and attendance is compulsory by all members.
